The Kanthirava Silver Pearl Necklace
The Lion-face is a classic motif in traditional Indian jewellery as courage and valour , traits of the lion are held in high regard.In this vividly etched, hollow `chased' sterling silver (92.5%) pendant the `Simha-mukha' is held in between two `Makara' heads (crocodile like, mythical sea-creatures in Hindu mythology). The necklace string is made of three strands of tiny natural freshwater pearls, hand woven in silver wire and gold-dipped.
